JUMP Children's Charity attends Matt Fiddes Martial Arts Northern Championships

On Saturday 17th March, JUMP Children's Charity attended the annual Matt Fiddes Martial Arts Northern Championships at the Birchwood Leisure & Tennis complex in Warrington. Martial Arts clubs from the North & Scotland got together to compete in the championships which helped towards raising money and awareness for our Children's Charity, and JUMP volunteers were also there with the information stand to give out leaflets and let everyone know about what our unique charity helps children that have life threatening health conditions.

The all day event had students competing in many different categories and age groups, from the Mighty Matts (aged 3-6) all the way up to adult, in different techniques, kick-boxing and hand drills, Martial Arts Forms and Sparring contests. Master Fiddes was also at the event presenting the medals to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed in all categories and all students that took part received a medal received a medal.

JUMP Children's Charity would like to thank Mr James of Matt Fiddes Martial Arts Widnes and all the Instructors from Matt Fiddes Martial Arts that helped organise and run the day, for raising money and awareness for us and also making it a fantastic event. Also, to all the students that took part and their spectators that donated to our charity. A donation was made to JUMP through ticket sales for the event and bucket collections made through the day, raising a total of £335 for funds to go towards creating an everlasting memory for a child

On a personal level, I had a wonderful day as my son, Archie Lowdon (aged 9) competed at the event, as he is a student of Mr James of Matt Fiddes Martial Arts Widnes. This was his first ever Martial Arts competition and he was feeling very nervous about it, but he did very well indeed winning the 3rd place Bronze medal for his category which was Hand Drills and Best Technique. He got through to the semi-final and lost, but then won his third place Bronze medal, shown in the video below.

JUMP attends VIP Business Networking Event

Last night, JUMP Children's Charity was invited to attend a VIP Business networking event, run by Matt Cork of Best of Warrington which bring together all kinds of businesses and organisations to network with each other to promote their service or product.

JUMP Children's Charity manager, Steven Stout MBE was invited by Steve James of Matt Fiddes Martial Arts in Widnes, who is also a Trustee of our Children's Charity, to attend the event and promote JUMP to local businesses showing how we help bring happiness and everlasting memories into children's lives.

Both Steve's chatted to local businesses to raise the profile of JUMP Children's Charity and build relationships with them which developed into offers for help from them in many different ways, making it a very successful night. Even more success on the night was from a raffle held, raising money for JUMP Children's Charity and kind donations from businesses. Steve Stout also took the floor to give a presentation to all there about our unique charity.

Many thanks to Steve Stout, Steve James and Alicia Leigh for all their fantastic support during the evening and to Matt Cork and Best Of Warrington for giving us the opportunity to promote JUMP Children's Charity amongst the business men and women of Warrington

Remembering Jacob

Eight years ago this very date was a Friday and it was to be a very sad & emotional "Friday the Thirteenth"
Despite his condition, of Congenital Muscular Dystrophy, Jacob was a wonderfully happy child who had just been to Disneyland Paris to see all his favourite Disney characters and fought through an illness that kept him in Alder Hey Children's Hospital over the previous Christmas & New Year.

Sadly, Friday 13th February 2004, Jacob passed away at home and left his parents and family devastated and lost without the little boy that brought so much light into their lives, and despite all the pain and emotion in the days that followed an amount of comfort was found for all the family and friends sharing their memories of Jacob, through all the photos and videos they had of him.

From this came the inspiration for a new unique charity called JUMP - Jacob's Unique Memory Pot, who's mission was to help capture memories through images or video of children that have life threatening health conditions, like Jacob, because we all remember what comfort and joy all the images and videos of Jacob brought to us. In the seven years that followed, JUMP grew delivering more and more "Memory Packages" to children each year. The volunteers of JUMP last year produced and delivered almost 50 "Memory Packages" to children making them feel really "special" and "important" with the attention they got during a photo shoot or filming them. This year we know we will deliver even more.

Even in the light of how much JUMP has moved on in the past seven and keeping in mind the ambitions of the charity for the future, we never forget where we came from and always remember Jacob, not just with fondness and love for a beautiful and wonderful little boy but also for the inspiration and life changing impact he had on many peoples lives and JUMP.
Jacob, we wouldn't be who we are today if it weren't for you, you will always live on in our hearts and memory and JUMP will always be inspired by you. R.I.P Jacob.
